As the title says, I’m so sick of TIMs in derby.
I’ve been annoyed for a while - when TIMs want to come to our practice we’re always “warned” ahead of time. There’s a transgender coming to practice, be sure to use she/her and be respectful and make them feel comfortable and welcome.
Not a word is ever said about whether we feel comfortable having a 6’2”, 250lb man who either has no idea how to skate or has spent his entire life playing hockey (and it’s ALWAYS one or the other) join us.
And- not that I’m complaining about this - they don’t even stay. They all just make these circuits - join a team, stir up drama, and leave for another team. Last one on the spent an entire practice complaining about how his previous team accused him of stealing money from the cash box! How dare they! ….the entire fucking practice. Thank god he never showed up again.
Then a few weeks ago this newbie joined - we’re not back skating in person so we weren’t actually introduced face to face, just using group forums. And this newbie was annoying the fuck out of me. Asking Google-able questions like three times a day, sharing idiotic memes (not every picture of a roller skate needs to be shared with your derby team!). And today I clicked on the profile to see if I could block or mute this person and when I saw their profile pic full size I was just like
GodDAMN it.
Another fucking TIM.
And I hate WFTDA was “ahead” of this and has been including trans in roller derby for years. Women’s association? It’s the “non-men” skating league.

Oh, and I’m so mad that they probably go home and congratulate themselves for “passing” because no one said anything…. Because we were warned ahead of time.

I’m so mad because they’ve forced people to use divisive language. Like “women’s room” used to be for, well, women. But now it can include TIMs.
And so it’s like haha what about a “uterus owner”room! ….but some actual women don’t have a uterus or cervix, or menstruate.
And with the recent push to use female and women interchangeable (eg transwomen are not just women they are female) we are to be left with no words to collectively describe ourselves.
Which I’m sure is exactly what these MRAs - oops i mean TRAs- want

I met a TiM at a women's night who started on about how he played roller derby. He was telling me how his team makes kept making excuses that they were getting injured and needed to retire. I really should have said something snarky. Please be careful of these brutes.
